N. Rangasamy is set to resign as the MLA of Tattanchavadi constituency after assuming office as Chief Minister of Puducherry.
Rangasamy recently won from two constituencies, Tattanchavadi and Mangalam, in the Assembly elections. As per election rules, he is required to retain only one seat and vacate the other. He has now decided to step down from the Tattanchavadi constituency.
According to official information, the resignation letter will be submitted after he formally takes oath as Chief Minister. The move will pave the way for a by-election in the constituency.
The All India N.R. Congress has already announced its candidate for the upcoming bypoll. Party member Ashok Anand is expected to contest from the Tattanchavadi seat.
The development follows standard post-election procedures when a candidate wins from multiple constituencies.
Further details regarding the by-election schedule are expected to be announced by the Election Commission in due course.
