CBSE Introduces Mandatory Three-Language Policy

Janani G 12 hours ago கல்வி

Central Board of Secondary Education has announced that the three-language policy will become mandatory for students studying in Classes 9 and 10 from July 1. The new rule will apply to all affiliated CBSE schools across the country as part of the updated academic guidelines.

According to the board, students must study three languages, including at least two Indian languages. Education officials said the move is aimed at encouraging multilingual learning and strengthening language education among school students.

CBSE also clarified that there will be no separate Class 10 public examination for the third language. Instead, schools themselves will conduct assessments and evaluations for that subject internally. The board stated that schools will receive detailed instructions regarding implementation, assessment methods, and academic procedures in the coming weeks.

The announcement has drawn attention from educational institutions, parents, and students as schools prepare to introduce the revised language structure from the upcoming academic session. School administrations are expected to make the necessary arrangements for teaching and evaluating the additional language subjects.

Education authorities said the policy is intended to support language learning and provide students with broader educational exposure through multilingual education in the school system.
