Russia is considering the induction of the BrahMos cruise missile, a jointly developed defence system created through collaboration between India and Russia. The move reflects growing interest in expanding military capabilities and strengthening strategic defence resources amid evolving security requirements.
BrahMos Aerospace Chairman Jaiteerth Joshi confirmed that discussions are currently underway regarding the production and supply of BrahMos missiles from India. According to him, Russia’s increasing defence needs have created demand for additional advanced missile systems, with BrahMos emerging as a key option under consideration.
The BrahMos missile is widely recognised for its speed, precision, and operational effectiveness. It has become one of the most significant defence products developed through India-Russia cooperation and is currently in service with the Indian armed forces. The system has also attracted attention from several countries due to its advanced capabilities.
If the discussions progress successfully, the missiles could be manufactured in India and supplied for Russian military use. Such a development would further strengthen defence cooperation between the two nations and highlight the success of their long-standing strategic partnership.
