The Nipah virus is back in Kerala, and two people have died from it in the Kozhikode district. The Health Minister said that some people have died because of a virus. They believe that the virus came from animals like bats or pigs and then spread from person to person. They have also found two more cases of this virus. Two people, one who was 44 years old and the other who was 40 years old, died. The first person died on August 30 and the second person died on September 11. The second person had a nine-year-old child and a 24-year-old relative who are both getting medical care. The child is in really bad condition and needs a lot of help. The samples were checked at a special place called the National Institute of Virology in Pune. A group of four experts has been sent to Kerala to help the government there with watching out for and reducing the time it takes to respond to cases of a virus called Nipah. The experts are giving advice to the medical colleges in Kerala on how to stay safe and they are also giving them protective gear to use. Nipah is not a new virus, and we have some knowledge about it because there have been deaths from it in the past. Some of the symptoms of Nipah are fever, muscle pain, and problems with breathing. Someone who has the virus might not show any symptoms, but they can still pass it on to other people. When someone asked if India needs to buy medicine for the sick people, the Minister said that they don't need to right now. He said that the sick people are being taken care of, but if they need medicine in the future, they will think about getting it. The leader of a place called Kerala said on the internet that we don't need to be scared because the people who were very close to the person who died are getting medical help. The Health Department is telling everyone in our district to be careful. They have set up a special place to help keep track of things. They want everyone to wear masks to stay safe.
