The Forecast 1 hour ago Weather

A new study by Council on Energy, Environment and Water warns that India could see a significant increase in extreme heat over the next two decades.

According to the report, the country may experience 15 to 40 additional days of severe heat each year compared to current levels. The study also predicts that night-time temperatures will rise, with 20 to 40 more unusually warm nights annually. In addition, the number of days with heavy rainfall could increase by 10 to 30 days.

The impact is expected to be higher in several states, including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Maharashtra. These regions may face more intense and prolonged periods of heat.

The findings highlight changing weather patterns and the need for preparedness across sectors.  This report provides important data to support planning for future climate conditions.
