8,312 crores for 5G spectrum: Airtel gave to central government

New Delhi, 18 AUG.

 Currently, 4G cell phone service is in circulation. Last month, the central government auctioned 5G spectrum for use in next-generation 5G cell phone services.

A total of 72 thousand 98 MHz spectrum was put up for auction. Out of them only 51 thousand 236 MHz spectrum was auctioned by telecom companies. This is 71 percent of the total spectrum.

Through this, the central government will get Rs. 1 lakh 50 thousand 173 crores. Jio bid for Rs.88 thousand 78 crore, Bharti Airtel for Rs.43 thousand 48 crore, Vodafone-Idea for Rs.18 thousand 799 crore and Adani for Rs.212 crore. Accordingly, Airtel has paid Rs. 8 thousand 312 crore 40 lakhs to the Central Department of Telecommunication for the 5G spectrum it has taken in the auction.

Airtel has paid upfront for 4 years of bandwidth.

 Airtel Managing Director Gopal Vittal said:-

 By paying the amount due to the central government in advance, the future cash flow will be smooth.

So, we can focus on implementing 5G cell phone service. "We are keen to bring world-class 5G services," he said.
