Witnessing the historic Jamboo Savari of the Mysuru Dasara celebrations, thousands of people flocked to Mysuru. Abhimanyu the elephant and eight other jumbos led the customary procession, which was a part of the "Nada Habba" (state celebration). The 750 kg golden howdah containing the deity of Chamundeshwari was borne by Abhimanyu.
The Karnataka government is putting on the event in an attempt to mimic the festivities that took place during the Mysore Wodeyar reign. The 10-day event, for which the city was lit, drew participants from many regions of the nation and state. Throughout the city, there were several music performances, poetry gatherings, Yuva Dasara, exhibitions, wrestling matches, and other events during the nine-day Navratri celebration. On the tenth day of the Vijayadashami festival, the Jamboo Savari, which marked its conclusion, was held.
The Jamboo Savari began in the well-known Amba Vilas Palace location in Mysuru, which is regarded as Karnataka's heritage capital. There, more than 20,000 seats were reserved. Near the Balarama Gate of the palace, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, and other leaders launched off the procession by paying floral homage to "Nandi Dhwaja."
Prominent city streets like K R Circle, Tilak Nagar, and Bamboo Bazaar were traversed by the procession. Many tourists had congregated along the parade route, cheering the procession as it passed. Approximately 6,000 police officers were stationed in the city to provide security. Hours before the Jamboo Savari started, tourists were occupying the enclosures that had been built up along the procession path. The parade included as many as 49 tableaus and 91 ethnic groups. Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot is scheduled to join in the torchlight parade in the evening, which signifies the conclusion of Dasara celebrations.
