Indian National Congress has demanded re-elections in 50 Assembly constituencies in West Bengal where the victory margin was reportedly lower than the number of voters removed during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.
The party stated that the issue raises concerns regarding voter participation and electoral fairness. According to Congress leaders, the deleted voters should first have their voting rights restored before any fresh election process is conducted in those constituencies.
The demand comes amid continuing political discussions over voter list revisions and election procedures in the state. Congress leaders argued that ensuring eligible voters are included in the electoral rolls is essential for maintaining democratic standards.
Party representatives have urged election authorities to review the voter deletion process carefully and take corrective measures where necessary. They also called for transparency in the handling of electoral records and verification procedures.
No official response has yet been issued by election authorities regarding the demand for re-elections.
The issue has added further political attention to electoral processes in West Bengal, with parties continuing to debate voter rights and election management procedures.
