Several small eateries in Bengaluru have limited their services to only tea and coffee due to uncertainty over the supply of commercial Liquefied Petroleum Gas cylinders. Hotel owners say the shortage has affected daily cooking operations, forcing many establishments to reduce their menu.
The situation comes amid rising global oil prices and tensions linked to the ongoing conflict involving Iran and the United States, which have influenced fuel supplies and costs.
The Bengaluru Hotels Association warned on March 9 that hotels in the city may have to shut down food services if the regular supply of commercial gas cylinders is not restored soon. According to hotel owners, gas dealers informed them that commercial cylinders had not been refilled since March 7.
Industry representatives say the situation is currently manageable but could worsen if supply delays continue, making early restoration of gas supply crucial for normal operations.
