A new park celebrating Tamil culture and environmental awareness has been opened in Coimbatore, offering visitors a unique space that combines nature with literary heritage.
The Tamil Sangam Literature Park, located at Nehru Nagar along Kalapatti Road, was inaugurated on March 12 by District Collector Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar. Developed at a cost of ₹56.03 lakh, the theme-based community park highlights the cultural and ecological elements found in ancient Tamil Sangam literature.
Situated at Sesi Avenue, the park has been designed to showcase the relationship between nature and the lifestyle described in classical Tamil works. Through displays and landscape features, visitors can learn about the natural environment, traditions, and values reflected in Sangam-era literature.
Officials said the park aims to create awareness about Tamil heritage while also encouraging environmental conservation among the public. It also provides a peaceful green space for residents and visitors.
The initiative is expected to promote cultural learning and environmental responsibility while adding another attractive public space to the city.
