Wastewater buildup near airport perimeter wall Mayor inspects with airport officials

Coimbatore, May 11: A complaint has been lodged that sewage is stagnant near the perimeter wall of the Coimbatore airport. This was also discussed at the Public Health Committee meeting. It also urged the airport authorities to study the matter and find a solution.
In this context, Coimbatore Mayor Kalpana Ananthakumar personally visited and inspected the sewage treatment plant in the park town under East Zone Ward No. 23 and the discharge of sewage near the airport perimeter wall. He then directed the concerned engineers and health officials to take immediate action to remove the plastic material, plants and vines in the waterlogged areas and then to discharge the stagnant sewage.
Mayor Kalpana Ananthakumar said, "We have consulted with the airport officials regarding the stagnant sewage near the airport perimeter wall. All measures will be taken soon so that the waste water does not stagnate, â€he said.
The inspection was attended by Corporation Public Health Committee Chairman Mari Selvan, East Zone Chairman Ilakumi Ilanchelvi Karthik, Municipal Officer Satish Kumar, Assistant Commissioner Marichelvi, Councilors Maniyan, Dharmaraj, Krishnamurthy, Bakiyam, Airport officials and many others.
