India has approved its first semiconductor manufacturing plant in Dholera, marking a major step in building a domestic chip industry.

The project will be developed by Tata Electronics in partnership with PSMC. The total investment for the plant is estimated at ₹91,000 crore, making it one of the largest technology projects in the country.

The facility is expected to produce advanced semiconductor chips ranging from 28nm to 110nm, which are widely used in industries such as electronics, automotive, and communication. According to official information, the plant is scheduled to begin operations in 2027.

The approval reflects the government’s focus on strengthening local manufacturing and reducing dependence on imports for critical technologies. It is also expected to create employment opportunities and support the growth of related industries.

This project is seen as an important step toward boosting India’s position in the global semiconductor market and advancing its technological capabilities.
