Arvind Kejriwal criticised the BJP after Suvendu Adhikari was chosen to become the Chief Minister of West Bengal. Kejriwal said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier called Adhikari corrupt but has now supported his elevation to the top post.
Speaking during a public interaction, Kejriwal alleged that leaders who join the BJP do not face action from central agencies. He claimed that opposition leaders, however, are subjected to raids and investigations. Referring to enforcement actions, he stated that agencies conduct searches at the homes of opposition politicians like himself while BJP leaders are spared.
The remarks have added to the ongoing political exchanges between opposition parties and the BJP over the role of investigative agencies in national politics. BJP leaders have not yet officially responded to Kejriwal’s latest comments.
Suvendu Adhikari was recently elected as the BJP Legislature Party leader in West Bengal and is expected to take charge as the state’s next Chief Minister. Political reactions surrounding the development continue to draw attention across the country.
