The Central Bureau of Investigation has officially registered a case in connection with the alleged NEET UG 2026 question paper leak. The action follows a written complaint submitted by the Union Education Ministry after serious allegations of malpractice emerged during the nationwide medical entrance examination.
The NEET examination, conducted on May 3 across the country, was cancelled after reports claimed that question papers had been leaked and circulated before the test. The issue triggered strong reactions from students, parents, and educational organisations, leading to demands for a detailed investigation.
Officials said the Higher Education Department under the Union Education Ministry submitted the formal complaint requesting a central investigation into the alleged irregularities. Following the complaint, the CBI began legal proceedings and initiated its inquiry into the matter.
The investigation is expected to focus on the source of the leak, the individuals involved, and the possible spread of examination materials before the test date. Authorities are also examining whether organised networks were connected to the malpractice allegations.
The case has become a major issue in the country’s education sector, with students now awaiting further announcements regarding the re-examination process and the outcome of the investigation.
