Hardeep Singh Puri has assured that India currently has enough crude oil reserves for 60 days and LPG stocks sufficient for 45 days. The clarification was issued amid growing public concern over fuel availability following recent remarks by Narendra Modi regarding fuel conservation.
Prime Minister Modi had earlier appealed to citizens to reduce fuel consumption and adopt energy-saving measures, including work-from-home practices, due to the ongoing global oil situation linked to tensions in the Middle East. His statement led to discussions and concerns among the public regarding possible shortages and fuel supply stability.
Responding to these concerns, Hardeep Singh Puri stated that the country’s fuel reserves remain stable and sufficient to meet current domestic demand. He also said that the government is closely monitoring international oil market developments and taking necessary measures to ensure uninterrupted supply.
Officials added that LPG distribution and petroleum product supply operations are continuing normally across the country without any disruption. Authorities have urged people not to panic and to rely only on official information regarding fuel availability.
The clarification from the Union government has helped reassure the public about the country’s current fuel and LPG stock position.
