Defence Research and Development Organisation is fully prepared to begin development of the Agni-6 intercontinental ballistic missile, according to official statements.
The proposed missile is expected to have a strike range of around 12,000 kilometres, placing it among long-range strategic systems. Officials confirmed that key technologies required for the project have already been developed and tested. The next phase of work will begin once approval is granted by the central government.
The Agni-6 missile is also expected to feature Multiple Independently Targetable Reentry Vehicle (MIRV) technology. This system allows a single missile to carry and deliver multiple warheads to different targets, increasing operational capability.
The development reflects ongoing efforts to advance defence technology and strengthen strategic preparedness.
Officials indicated that necessary groundwork has been completed to support a smooth start to the project once it receives clearance.
The initiative marks continued progress in strengthening long-range missile development capabilities.
