India’s GST Revenue Hits Record High in April

Janani G 1 day ago National News

India recorded its highest-ever Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections in April, reaching ₹2.43 lakh crore, according to official data.

This marks a significant increase of 8.7 percent compared to ₹2.23 lakh crore collected in April 2025. The rise in revenue reflects steady economic activity and improved tax compliance across sectors.

Officials noted that higher GST collections from imports played a major role in driving the overall increase. Strong import activity contributed to the growth, adding to domestic tax revenues collected during the month.

The latest figures highlight continued momentum in tax collections, supported by better monitoring systems and streamlined processes. Authorities have been focusing on improving compliance and reducing tax leakages, which has contributed to consistent growth in GST revenues.

The record collection also indicates stable demand and ongoing economic transactions across industries. The data provides a positive signal for fiscal performance and ongoing revenue trends in the country.
