Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced that the NEET examination will be conducted through Computer-Based Testing from next year. The decision is aimed at improving examination management and strengthening the overall conduct of the national medical entrance test.
According to the Union Education Minister, the required infrastructure and technical facilities for the computer-based examination system will be developed in the coming months. Authorities stated that preparations will include examination centres, digital systems, and security arrangements needed for conducting the test smoothly across the country.
Officials also said strict measures will be introduced to prevent errors and ensure transparency in the examination process. The announcement comes at a time when examination security and administrative procedures are receiving increased attention following recent concerns related to competitive entrance tests.
The National Testing Agency, which conducts major national-level examinations, manages tests for nearly one crore students every year. Education officials stated that the shift to a computer-based format is expected to improve monitoring, reduce operational challenges, and support better examination management.
The proposed change marks an important step in the modernization of national entrance examinations and is expected to strengthen the efficiency and reliability of the NEET examination process in the coming years.
