CBSE Unveils New Curriculum Changes for 2026–27

Janani G 10 hours ago Education

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced major curriculum reforms to be introduced from the 2026–27 academic session, including a three-language formula from Class 6 and a two-level system for mathematics and science in Class 9.

Under the new plan, the three-language formula will be implemented in a phased manner starting from Class 6. As per the National Education Policy, students will study three languages, with at least two being Indian languages. The framework is designed to promote multilingual learning across different stages.

For students returning from foreign schools, exemptions may be allowed if the third language studied earlier is not available in India. However, they must still meet the required number of subjects.

A key change is the introduction of a two-level system in mathematics and science for Class 9. All students will take a standard exam, while an optional advanced paper will test higher-level understanding. Scores from the advanced paper will be recorded separately.

These changes aim to offer flexibility and improve learning outcomes in the coming years.
