US Secretary Marco Rubio arrived in India on a four-day official visit aimed at strengthening diplomatic engagement and regional cooperation. The visit began in Kolkata, where the senior US official started his scheduled tour across key Indian cities.
According to officials, Rubio will next travel to Agra and Jaipur as part of his official engagements before heading to New Delhi. He is expected to participate in the Quad Foreign Ministers’ meeting scheduled to take place on May 26 in the national capital.
The Quad grouping includes India, the United States, Japan, and Australia, and focuses on cooperation in areas such as regional security, economic partnerships, technology, and strategic coordination in the Indo-Pacific region.
Diplomatic sources said the visit is expected to include discussions on bilateral ties, trade cooperation, and regional developments. Security and international partnership issues are also likely to be part of the meetings during the visit.
Officials stated that the visit reflects the continued diplomatic engagement between India and the United States and highlights ongoing cooperation between the two countries on regional and global matters.
