NASA Telescope Set to Search for 100,000 New Planets

Janani G 3 days ago World News

NASA is preparing to launch the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope this September, marking a major step forward in the search for planets beyond our solar system. The mission is expected to explore regions of the Milky Way that have not been studied in detail before and could significantly expand humanity’s understanding of the universe.

Scientists believe the telescope could help identify as many as 100,000 new planets during its mission. So far, researchers have discovered about 6,300 planets outside our solar system, making the expected findings from the Roman Telescope a major advancement in space exploration.

The telescope is designed with advanced infrared observation capabilities and a wide field of view, allowing it to survey vast areas of space more efficiently than many previous missions. In addition to searching for planets, it will also help scientists study stars, galaxies, dark matter, and dark energy.

NASA officials have stated that the observatory is on track for an early September launch. Once operational, it is expected to gather an enormous amount of scientific data and support discoveries across multiple fields of astronomy.

The launch of the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope is expected to open a new chapter in space research and bring scientists closer to understanding the many worlds that exist across our galaxy.
