The Ministry of External Affairs has announced a revision in passport application fees, with the new rates set to take effect from July 1. The decision will apply to both ordinary and Tatkal passport services across the country.

Under the revised fee structure, the cost of applying for a 36-page ordinary passport has been increased from ₹1,500 to ₹2,500. Applicants choosing the Tatkal service for the same passport will now have to pay ₹5,000.

The ministry has also revised the charges for the 60-page passport category. The fee for a 60-page ordinary passport has been raised to ₹3,500, while the Tatkal application fee for this category has been fixed at ₹6,000.

Officials stated that the updated rates will be applicable to all passport applications submitted on or after July 1. Applicants planning to renew or obtain a new passport are advised to take note of the revised charges before submitting their applications.

The passport remains one of the most important travel and identity documents for Indian citizens, and the revised fee structure is expected to be implemented uniformly through passport offices and online application systems nationwide.

Authorities have encouraged applicants to check official passport service portals for updated information and application guidelines before proceeding with their requests.

The revised fee structure marks an important administrative update and aims to ensure the continued delivery of passport services across the country.
