Nationwide Polio Drive Scheduled for June 28

Janani G 1 week ago National News

A nationwide polio vaccination campaign will be conducted on June 28 to protect children under the age of five from the risk of polio. Health authorities have announced extensive arrangements across the country to ensure that every eligible child receives the life-saving oral vaccine.

As part of the special immunization drive, polio drops will be administered at government hospitals, primary health centres, anganwadi centres, government schools, railway stations, bus terminals, and several other designated public locations. Temporary vaccination booths will also be established in key areas to improve accessibility and reach more families.

The campaign forms part of the country’s ongoing efforts to maintain protection against polio and prevent the re-emergence of the disease. Health workers, volunteers, and local authorities will work together to ensure smooth implementation of the programme and maximum participation.

Parents and guardians are being encouraged to bring all children below five years of age to the nearest vaccination centre, regardless of their previous vaccination status. Officials have emphasized that the vaccine is safe, effective, and essential for strengthening immunity against the disease.

Special attention will be given to children in remote and high-mobility areas to ensure no eligible child is missed during the campaign. Awareness activities are also being conducted to inform families about the importance of timely vaccination.

The nationwide drive highlights the continued commitment of public health authorities to safeguarding children’s health and maintaining a polio-free future for the country. With widespread participation and coordinated efforts, the campaign aims to strengthen protection for millions of young children across India.
