In an effort to douse discontent among Congress legislators over several issues related to their Assembly constituencies, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar will hold talks with them from Monday.
Legislators from Tumakuru, Yadgir, Chitradurga, Bagalkot, Ballari and Dharwad districts would attend the conference along with the district in-charge Ministers. Similarly, legislators from other districts also will attend meetings later, party sources added.
The conference was called after irritated legislators wrote to the Chief Minister and later raised the subject at the Congress Legislature Party meeting last month over a slew of unresolved concerns in their areas. The topic was also raised during a meeting in Delhi between state leaders and the party's high command to discuss preparations for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
According to party sources, the simmering resentment among legislators, many of whom coveted Cabinet berths but were denied, was about the transfers of officials and the allotment of development funds to constituencies.
According to reports, the large commitment of funds to pre-poll guarantees has resulted in a reduction of funds for constituency development efforts.
