Chief Minister Siddaramaiah accused the BJP on Sunday of assisting the wealthy to become landowners, contradicting the State's land reforms.

"What former Chief Minister late D. Devaraj Urs implemented was to give land ownership to the tiller of the land." However, since the BJP came to power, it has aided the wealthy in becoming landowners," the Chief Minister stated here on the occasion of the late Chief Minister's 108th birthday.

He also gave veteran politician Kagodu Thimmappa the D. Devaraj Urs award for his contribution in the Geni movement.

The Chief Minister further stated that the Kannada area had stood for social justice from Basavanna to Krishnaraja Wadiyar and Devaraj Urs. "Those who benefited from the Kagodu and Geni movements should advocate for social justice." "By accepting the Havanur commission report, Devaraj Urs also implemented reservation," he stated.
