In a determined push towards his "Homes for All" vision by 2029, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu recently conducted a review meeting with the Housing Department. Aiming to provide housing for eligible citizens, the State government is preparing for a grand event in December, where keys to 1,00,000 new homes will be handed over to beneficiaries.
During the meeting at the Secretariat, CM Naidu directed officials to expedite an MoU with the Central government to launch Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) 2.0. To date, 58,578 homes have been constructed under PMAY Urban and 17,197 under PMAY Rural since the NDA government assumed power.
Looking ahead, Naidu has set an ambitious target of building an additional 760,000 homes by 2026. To boost efficiency, the Housing Department launched a pilot project using drones to monitor construction quality and site measurements, which Mr. Naidu encouraged expanding to larger layouts. He further emphasized the importance of essential infrastructure and directed multiple departments to coordinate closely.
To strengthen the Housing Department, the Chief Minister approved the deputation of 597 personnel. Housing Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy and senior officials were also present, underscoring the State’s commitment to its housing goals.
