The Election Commission of India has announced that counting of votes will begin with postal ballots at 8 AM on May 4.

According to the official statement, postal ballots will be taken up first at all counting centres before the counting of votes recorded in electronic voting machines (EVMs). Authorities clarified that the final round of counting from EVMs will commence only after the completion of postal ballot counting.

The commission stated that this sequence is part of established procedures to ensure transparency and accuracy in the counting process. Necessary arrangements have been made at counting centres, including security measures and monitoring systems, to ensure smooth operations.

Officials added that trained personnel will handle the counting process under strict supervision. The step-by-step procedure is aimed at maintaining consistency across all constituencies.

The announcement provides clarity on the counting schedule and process, helping ensure an orderly and systematic approach to declaring results.
