Postal voting has begun in Chennai for senior citizens aged above 85 and persons with disabilities, with officials visiting their homes to collect votes.

The initiative is being carried out for voters who had earlier submitted Form 12D to opt for postal voting. Election officials have started visiting eligible voters from today, and the process will continue for the next three days.

This special arrangement aims to ensure that elderly and disabled voters can exercise their voting rights without the need to travel to polling stations. Teams have been deployed to visit homes and assist voters in completing the process smoothly.

In Chennai, the facility covers 16 constituencies. A total of 23,415 senior citizens and 12,501 persons with disabilities are eligible to cast their votes through this method.

Officials stated that all necessary measures have been taken to maintain transparency and security during the process.

The initiative reflects efforts to make the election process more inclusive, ensuring that every eligible voter can participate with ease and dignity.
