Tamil Nadu experienced intense summer heat today as Vellore recorded the highest temperature in the state at 109°F. Chennai also witnessed severe heat conditions with temperatures reaching 107°F, while several other regions crossed the 100°F mark during the day.
According to weather updates, Karur, Madurai, Cuddalore, and Puducherry were among the places that recorded temperatures above 100°F. The continuing heatwave has increased discomfort for residents and affected normal daytime activities in many areas.
Officials have advised people to remain cautious and avoid prolonged outdoor exposure during peak afternoon hours. Health authorities also recommended staying hydrated, wearing light clothing, and limiting travel under direct sunlight to prevent heat-related illnesses.
The rising temperatures have also increased electricity demand across several districts due to higher usage of cooling appliances. Authorities are closely monitoring the weather situation and have urged district administrations to stay prepared for any emergency requirements linked to the heatwave.
Weather experts said above-normal temperatures are expected to continue in several parts of Tamil Nadu over the coming days. Officials continue to encourage the public to follow safety precautions and remain alert during the ongoing summer heat conditions.
