NASA Reveals Rare Orange Glow Around Earth

Janani G 1 day ago World News

NASA has released a rare image showing Earth surrounded by a bright orange glow caused by a natural atmospheric phenomenon known as “Airglow.” The striking image has attracted attention from scientists and space enthusiasts around the world for its unique view of Earth from space.

According to NASA, the glowing effect occurs when gases present in Earth’s atmosphere absorb energy from sunlight and later release that energy as light. The phenomenon takes place at an altitude of nearly 80 to 100 kilometres above the planet’s surface. Although Airglow is usually too faint to be seen clearly from the ground, it becomes visible from space under suitable conditions.

Scientists explained that Airglow is different from the Northern Lights and other aurora events, which are caused by charged particles from the Sun. Airglow is considered a natural and continuous process occurring in the upper atmosphere.

NASA regularly shares images and scientific observations from space missions to help improve public understanding of Earth and space science. The latest image offers a rare and visually stunning look at the planet’s atmospheric activity.

The release of the image once again highlights the beauty of Earth and the ongoing scientific efforts to better understand the planet’s atmosphere and environment.
