Janani G 1 day ago Tamil Nadu

The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has submitted several important demands to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a recent meeting, focusing on state rights, infrastructure development, and fishermen welfare.

Among the major requests, the Chief Minister urged the Union government to issue a clear directive allowing the state anthem to be played at the beginning of official government functions. He also requested that the proposed Centre for Airborne Systems (CABS) be established in Tamil Nadu to support the state’s growing defence and technology sectors.

The Chief Minister further stressed that the Mekedatu dam project should not receive approval without the consent of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry. The issue has remained a major concern for downstream states due to water-sharing matters connected to the Cauvery river.

Another key demand focused on the welfare of Tamil Nadu fishermen. The Chief Minister urged the Union government to press the Sri Lanka government for the immediate release of Tamil Nadu fishermen and their boats currently held by the Sri Lankan Navy.

The meeting highlighted several long-standing concerns raised by Tamil Nadu, reflecting the state government’s continued focus on regional development, water rights, and fishermen welfare.
