The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has placed several important development demands before Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, focusing on urban transport and higher education infrastructure in the state.

Another key demand focused on strengthening Tamil Nadu’s higher education environment. The Chief Minister urged the Union government to establish more Institutes of National Importance (INI) in the state. These institutions include premier educational and research centres that play a major role in advanced learning, innovation, and skill development across the country.

According to officials, the state government highlighted Tamil Nadu’s strong academic foundation and its contribution to education, research, and technology sectors. The request was made with the aim of expanding opportunities for students and improving access to nationally recognized institutions within the state.

The meeting reflected Tamil Nadu’s continued focus on infrastructure growth and educational advancement as part of its long-term development plans.
