Raghubar Das swears as 26th Governor of Odisha at Raj Bhawan, Bhubaneswar

Raghubar Das was sworn in as the 26th Governor of Odisha at Raj Bhawan in Bhubaneswar. The Chief Justice of Orissa High Court, Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi, administered the oath of office to him. He succeeded Prof. Ganeshi Lal. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and many senior officials of the state government were present at the swearing-in ceremony. Prior to swearing in, Das offered prayers at the Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar. He had also visited Lord Jagannath Temple in Puri soon after his arrival in Odisha.
Das was the first non-tribal Chief Minister of Jharkhand from 2014 to 2019. The 68-year-old leader was elected to the Bihar and Jharkhand assemblies five times and represented Jamshedpur East from 1995 to 2019. Das, a law graduate, had participated in the Jayaprakash Narayan-led movement and was jailed during an emergency.
