A three-day national conference on floriculture will begin on March 23 at the College of Agriculture in Shivamogga.
The event, titled “Floriculture and Landscaping @2047 Viksit Bharat,” is being organised by the Keladi Shivappa Nayaka University of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences. It aims to bring together experts, researchers, and students to discuss the future of flower cultivation and landscaping in India.
According to B. Hemla Naik, Karnataka accounts for nearly 30% of the country’s total flower production, making it a major hub for commercial floriculture.
The conference will be inaugurated by R. Girish, while Vice-Chancellor R.C. Jagadish will preside over the event. Several senior faculty members are also expected to participate.
The conference is expected to promote knowledge sharing and encourage innovation in floriculture.
It highlights the growing importance of the sector in supporting agriculture and contributing to economic development.
