The Union Cabinet has approved two major hydroelectric projects in Arunachal Pradesh, boosting India’s renewable energy capacity. The 1200 MW Kalai-II Hydro Electric Project in Anjaw district will be developed with an investment of ₹14,105.83 crore and is expected to be completed in 78 months. Additionally, the 1720 MW Kamala Hydro Electric Project spanning Kamle, Kra Daadi, and Kurung Kumey districts has been approved with an outlay of ₹26,069.50 crore and a completion period of 96 months. These projects aim to enhance clean energy generation, strengthen regional infrastructure, and create employment opportunities. The initiative marks a significant step toward sustainable development and energy security in the northeastern region of India.
