The British Academy Book Prize for Global Cultural Understanding, a prestigious international non-fiction award worth GBP 25,000, has recognized India-born author Nandini Das as the winner for her book "Courting India: England, Mughal India, and the Origins of Empire."
At an event held at the British Academy in London, the UK-based academic's first work—which is referred to as the “true origin story of Britain and India told through England’s first diplomatic mission to the Mughal courts”—was named the winner for this year.
