A grant of Rs.1 lakh is given to agriculture graduates to start self-employment in agriculture. In this regard, a press release issued by Tirunelveli District Agriculture Joint Director K. Muruganandam:
Under the National Agricultural Development Program in Tirunelveli District, a new scheme is being implemented for the graduates who have completed agricultural studies to start agriculture-related businesses, become entrepreneurs, and improve rural development.
Agricultural graduates who wish to start their own business under this scheme will be given a subsidy of 50 percent of the total scheme assessment up to a maximum of Rs 1 lakh. Graduates who will benefit from this scheme should be between 21 to 40 years of age. Graduates who have completed their degree in agriculture can apply through the Agris Net website of the Department of Agriculture. They can also approach their district Assistant Director of Agriculture office with relevant documents to avail themselves of the benefit.
