The 'Makkaludan Mayor' (Mayor with the people) initiative, which was announced by Tiruppur Mayor N. Dinesh Kumar in the 2022-23 budget to improve the basic facilities in all 60 wards., is slated to commence from next week.
Mayor Dinesh Kumar said that, he would visit all the 60 Corporation was as part of his initiative. He would interact with the residents and listen to their grievances, inspect the works carried out by the Corporation and issue directions to the officials accordingly.
I would make myself available for about two to three hours in a ward, he said. Plans to visit at least one ward every day from next week will be chalked out, the Mayor noted.
Tiruppur Corporation saw the presentation of a deficit budget for 2022-23 for the first time in four years, with the deficit pegged at rs.10.08 crore. The deficit budget is not at all a matter of concern, he asserted, adding that the budget was intended to present " the real picture " to the public.
Works to prepare a digitized grievance redress mechanism, wherein the residents can track the status of their petitions and know the number of days within which their grievances would be redressed, are under way, Tiruppur Mayor Kumar said.
