Kenyan athlete Sebastian Sawe set a new world record at the London Marathon by completing the race in under two hours.

Sawe covered the 42.195 km distance in 1 hour, 59 minutes, and 30 seconds, becoming the first runner to achieve this milestone in an official marathon event. The 30-year-old delivered a remarkable performance, setting a new benchmark in long-distance running.

Ethiopian runner Yomif Kejelcha finished second with a time of 1 hour, 59 minutes, and 41 seconds. Both athletes surpassed the previous world record of 2 hours and 35 seconds set in 2023 by Kelvin Kiptum.
