Assam floods; 1.97 lakh people affected in 20 districts: Relief work is also being carried out by Assam Government.

Assam, one of the northeastern states, has been experiencing continuous rains for the past four days and floods in various rivers. The Kobili River is at risk of flooding. The Brahmaputra River is also at risk of flooding. The worst affected areas are Kachhar, Timaji, Hojai, Karbi Anglong West, Nagawan and Kamrup (metro). Landslides have been reported in 12 villages in Thema Hasao district due to continuous rains.
In Kachhar district alone, 51,357 people have been affected. A total of 1.97 lakh people from 652 villages in 46 revenue circles have been affected by the floods. The Assam State Disaster Management Corporation said 16,645.61 hectares of cropland had been submerged in the floodwaters. Authorities say three people, including a child, are missing. Following this, 55 relief camps and 12 distribution centers have been set up. Of those, 32,959 are being held.
In addition, more than 1,400 livestock have been swept away in the floods. A total of more than 200 houses have been affected by the floods. The Army, paramilitary forces, Assam Disaster Rescue Force, Fire and Emergency Services are involved in the rescue operation. Relief work is also being carried out. Various roads, bridges and irrigation canals in Hojay, Lakhimpur and Nagavan districts have been affected by the floods. Railway tracks, bridges and road traffic have been severely affected by large-scale landslides and stagnant water.
Landslides have been reported in New Ganjang, Pyongyang, Moulhoi, Namjeurang, South Bakidar, Mahadev Dilla, Kalipari, North Bakitar, Jian and Lodi Panmoul villages. Rail services have been affected by landslides in Jadinga-Harangajao and Mahur-Pyathing areas.
