10 thousand officers particated in election training program in Coimbatore district

Coimbatore, Feb. 1: Urban local body elections have been declared for 1 corporation, 7 municipalities and 33 municipalities in Coimbatore district. And the vote for this will take place on the 19th. There are 41 Returning Officers, 110 Assistant Returning Officers and 10 thousand and172 Polling Officers involved in this election. Following this, it is customary for the polling officials to be trained in a total of 3 phases in the election process. Accordingly, the first training classes were held yesterday.

Coimbatore Nirmala College, PSG College, Ramanathapuram Girls School, RS Puram Ammaniyammal School was imparted at 5 locations in the school. Similarly, polling officers working in 7 municipal elections were trained in their respective municipal areas and those involved in municipal election work were trained in 9 places. 10 thousand people participated in this training. They were divided into groups of 50 and trained in considering the spread of covid infection.

Electronic voting machines are used in this election. So there are various actions to be taken including how to connect the electronic voting machines of the control unit and the ballot unit to each other, what to do in case of repair, how to seal the ballot after completion of polling, how to delete the information in it before polling and how to replace the battery in case of repair in the control unit. The explanations were given by the officers during this exercise.

The training camp also provided the 2nd dose of corona vaccine and booster dose of corona vaccine to government employees and teachers who have passed 9 months. Everyone who took part in the training wore masks because of the corona fear. This will be followed by the second phase of training on the 9th and the third phase of training on the 18th, 2 days before the polls.
