Congress gains upper hand in Rajasthan, close contest in Karnataka; BJP claims victory in Haryana.

There are 57 vacant seats in various states across India. The Chief Electoral Commission has announced that elections for the seats will be held on the 10th June. Accordingly, out of the 11 states of Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Telangana and Jharkhand, 41 state council members were elected without contest. Voting for the remaining 16 vacant seats in the four states of Karnataka, Haryana, Rajasthan and Maharashtra was held yesterday. Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, actor Jakesh and Lekarsingh, former Union ministers Jairam Ramesh and Mansoor Alikhan from the ruling BJP, and Kupendrareddy from the Janata Dal (S) party contested.
In the Karnataka Assembly, the BJP has 122 members, the Congress 70 and the Janata Dal (S) 32. One candidate needed the support of 45 MLAs to win. All 3 parties did not get enough votes for the 4th place. Following this, the three parties BJP, Congress and Janata Dal (S) fielded their candidates. In this context, the state elections were held yesterday. The vote count began at 5 p.m., as planned. BJP candidates Nirmala Sitharaman, actor Jakesh, Lekersingh and Congress candidate Jairam Ramesh won. Similarly, elections were held for 4 seats in the Congress-ruled state of Rajasthan. The Congress party won 3 seats and the BJP won one seat. 7 candidates contested for 6 seats in Maratha, Haryana Maratha. The Congress, the Shiv Sena and the Nationalist Congress Party will each get one seat and the BJP two. But there was a contest between the Shiv Sena and the BJP for the 6th position.
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Katar has congratulated BJP candidate Krishan Lal Banwar and BJP-JVP independent candidate Karthikeyan Sharma on their victory in the state assembly elections.
