The Chennai City Traffic Police conducted an anti-noise rally from the 27th to 3rd of last month. An investigation conducted by a private charity with the help of the Chennai City Police at various locations in the city revealed that the level of noise pollution has increased by 30 percent above normal. The environment department's rule is that sound levels in cities should be 65 decibels during the day and 50 decibels at night. But according to the current survey, a sound level of 85 decibels has been reported in Chennai city.
