Suez Canal new revenues hit not see before in past 135 year high.

The Forecast 3 years ago General

The Suez Canal is Egypt's most important source of revenue. Through this canal, from July 2021 to June 2022, the Egyptian government received an income of about 7 billion dollars, the highest in the last 135 years. It is reported that this is 20.7 percent more than the previous year's income. Last year, the cargo ship "Evergreen" got stuck in the Suez Canal, disrupting shipping for about a week. Due to this, there was a loss of trade of about one billion dollars per day. In 2021-22, 13 lakh tonnes of cargo passed through the Suez Canal. This is 10 percent more than in 2020–21. With international prices of petroleum products rising, exporters are said to be choosing to transport goods through the Suez Canal because of the lower costs involved. As Egypt's foreign exchange reserves have started to decrease due to the coronavirus and the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the Suez Canal's revenue has increased, and the country's government has started development projects worth 400 million dollars to improve the canal.
