India-origin former Finance Minister Rishi Sunak and Foreign Minister Liz Truss, who are competing for the post of Prime Minister in the UK, are united in their opposition to China despite their differing views on economic policies and tax cuts. Both accuse China of being the biggest threat to England. Apart from that, they are both campaigning that if elected as Prime Minister, they will be strict in their relations with China and will take appropriate measures to prevent China from stealing UK technologies.
China has warned both UK Prime Ministerial candidates to stop campaigning against China as a threat. Zhao Lijian, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman, said, "I want to make one thing clear to some UK politicians. You, who cannot solve your own problems, should stop making irresponsible comments about China, including calling China a threat. "
