Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov today expressed his support for India becoming a permanent member of the UN Security Council.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said this while addressing the 77th annual meeting of the United Nations.
Instead of seeking honest dialogue and reconciliation to end the war in Ukraine, he said, the United States has tried to get the whole world behind it. Russia has also supported Brazil becoming a permanent member.
India has been at the forefront of UN efforts to push for long-overdue reforms in the UN Security Council. Currently, the UN Security Council has 5 permanent members and 10 non-permanent member states.
