In honor of the late Queen Elizabeth II of England, for the first time in her name, the "Queen Elizabeth II Award" ceremony was held in London this year.
In it, Indian-origin Suella Braverman won the award for "Woman of the Year". His parents accepted the award on his behalf.
Suella Braverman of Indian origin was born to Uma from Tamil Nadu and Christy Fernandez from Goa living in London.
Earlier this month, 42-year-old Suella Braverman was appointed Home Secretary in the UK's new Prime Minister Liz Truss' cabinet.
Speaking via video at a ceremony in London, Suella Braverman said she considers taking on the new role at the Asian Achievement Awards (AAA) 2022 ceremony to be the honor of her life. He said that this prestigious award is dedicated to the late Queen Elizabeth II of England.
Suella Braverman said, "My mother and father came to this country in the 1960s from Kenya and Mauritius. They have been proud members of our Asian community. I was elected to serve in the UK Parliament. It is the pride of my life to serve the country now as Home Secretary."
The Asian Achievement Award is now in its 20th year. The award is given to people chosen by the public to recognize the achievements of individuals from the South Asian community in Britain.
