According to the International Monetary Fund, 48 countries are facing a global food crisis. Speaking at a conference in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Georgieva, said that 20 countries may need urgent assistance to overcome the global food crisis.
Georgieva also said that about 14 million people in Arab countries are food insecure. He said the International Monetary Fund would voice its opposition to food trade restrictions to ease these conditions.
