54 countries including Sri Lanka need immediate debt relief - UN

The Forecast 3 years ago General

The United Nations Development Program released a report yesterday. It states:-

Countless developing countries around the world are stuck with severe debt problems. Most of these countries were in deep debt before the start of Corona.

These poor countries are facing economic pressure. These countries were unable to repay their loans. Couldn't get a new loan.

Sri Lanka, Pakistan

Among them, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Tunisia, Chad and Zambia are facing immediate danger. 54 countries including them need immediate debt relief.

If such immediate relief is not available, the level of poverty there will increase. Despite frequent warnings about this, no action has been taken, so the risk is increasing. It threatens to spread to other countries as well. 46 of the above 54 countries had a total debt of 782 billion dollars in 2020.
