One of India's highest honors, the Padma Bhushan, was awarded to Google CEO Sundar Pichai.
This year's Padma Awards were announced on the occasion of Republic Day. Padma Awards were conferred on the shortlisted recently. In this case, Sundar Pichai was not given the award.
In this case, Sundar Pichai received India's Padma Bhushan award at the event held in San Francisco, USA. On behalf of India, Indian Ambassador to America Taranjit Singh presented Sandhu to Sundar Pichai. Born in Madurai, Sundar Pichai holds an engineering degree from IIT, Kharagpur.
In this regard, Sundar Pichai said, "Thank you very much to the Government and people of India for giving this high honor. Thank you to Indian Ambassador Taranjit Singh Sandhu. It is a great honor to receive the Padma Bhushan award in the presence of my family. Thank you to the people and government of India who gave the award.
I am happy that this honor has come from the country that carved and shaped me. India will always be with me. I will take India with me wherever I go. Every time I visit India, the country's digital growth amazes me.
I look forward to continuing to grow the Google and India partnership. Prime Minister Modi's Digital India initiative is a driving force for growth. So, Google is ready to invest in India to bring change in the future," he said.
